My work focuses on global humanitarian crises, the impact of climate change on human health, the corporate financialization of American healthcare, the therapeutic effects of psychedelic drugs, and the interdependence of the world around and within us. I've been supported by grants from Berkeley, as a Ferriss-UC Berkeley Psychedelic Journalism Fellow, and the National Institute for Healthcare Management. I was a MacDowell Fellow in Literature in 2025, where I received the Sylvia Canfield Winn Fellowship for Environmental Writing and the Calderwood Journalism Fellowship. I have a medical degree from Columbia University and completed residency training at Harvard. I practice in rural emergency departments in the desert southwest, where I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico. I'm represented by Katie Cacouris of The Wylie Agency.
